THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF MEDONTE
Minutes of a Regular Meeting of Council of the Township of Medonte held on Tuesday, July 10,
J 984- at 7:00 P.M. in Council Chambers, Moonstone.

AnOPTION OF MINUTES
Rf'sollltion 84-149 was passed as follows:
" That the minutes of a Regular Meeting of Council held on Tuesday, June 12, 1984 be adopted
as circulated".
Mrs. JOq.n Fenwick approached Council and requested that the pathway from the Haste Subdivision
to Petty Coat Lane be repaired. She explained that the culvert is washed out and that the path
has gotten very narrow. Council directed the Superintendent to repair the Pathway.

~Mr. R. Sorensen approached Council and requested that the landowner in the Preston Subdivision
who has 6 or 7 old cars be directed to clean up his yard. Council directed the Clerk to investigat
Council then met with Mr. E. Robertson, Township Roads Superintendent. He advised Council that
he has replaced the bridge on the Carley Sideroad with a culvert. Council decided to have a
special meeting on July 17, 1984 at 8:00 P.M. to discuss the bridge on the 9th concession.
Jhe Clerk presented a request by Mr. Moorehouse of the Pritchard Subdivision to have Council
replace an underground tile that was removed from the ditch in front of his property when
Council was lowering the culverts in the subdivision. Council decided not to replace the tile
and directed the Clerk advise Mr. Moorehouse.
Resohltion ~4-1 '50 was passed as follows:
" That this Council sends its appreciation to the County of Simcoe Roads Committee for the
surfacing of Co unty Road 19 through the Township of Medonte".

1) Mr. B. HQrvey and Mrs. N. Kohf' of the Orr Lake Ratepayers Association approached Council
regarding a house numbering system around the lake. They agreed to work with Council to cor
up with a system. Once the system is in place they agreed to have numbers placed at
everyone~s laneway. It was agreed t hat the Clerk and Fire Chief would meet with the
Orr Lake group at a later date. They also advised Council that people are not obeying the
"No Parking" signs which have been placed along the dead end Whetham Sideroad. Council
directed the Clerk discuss the matter with the O.P.P. to see what could be done.

'f) Mr. C. Adams approached Council for permission to hold a function at the Hillsdale
Community Hall on August 16, 1984 and to have a Special Occasion Permit for the function.

Resolution 84-1 51 was passed as follows:
" That Council approves of the use of the Hillsdale Community Hall on August 16, 1984 for
a Special Occasion Permit".
3) Council then met with Mr. K. Hamilton, Township Fire Chief.
The Clerk Qresented a report on the Papal Visit. He gave a report on the proposed parking
in the Vasey area. The Chief advised Council on how he hopes to organize things for the
Papal Visit. Mr. D. Copeland then explained to Council as to the mechanical problems with
unit 1/ 2 and why it was taken out of service. Council explained that they did not have the
funds to purchase a new truck at the present time. Chief Hamilton explained that he has
moved the pumper from the Moonstone Hall to Hillsdale for the time being but that Council
would have to replace the unit sometime.
Chief Hamilton then discussed the problem of open air burningwith Council. He suggested
that Council consider a burning By-Law to control this type of burning.

I) Resoltltic\n ~4-1 '52 was defeated as follows:
" That Council approves of selling a portion of the road allowance in front of lots 23,
24, and 15, Plan M-l0 to Salvil Investments subject to the provisions of the Municipal
Act, and subject that Salvil shall be responsible for all costs of the procedure and that
the purchase price shall be----".

2) Reeve Amos reported that he had met with Mr. Nixon and asked him to clean up his yard.
He also reported that the fridges outside were no junk but were in use.

Resolution 84-153 was passed as follows:
" That resolution 84-143 is hereby repealedu.

Resolution 84-1 '54 was passed as follows:
" That Council a.ccept~: the quotation of Mr. A. Bidmead in the amount of $350.00 for the
purchase and removal of wood along the right of way being leased to Bot Construction".

5) Council directed the Clerk contact Mr. Fell and Mr. Gill and see if they were still experiencin~
dog problems and if they were to have the solicitor lay charges.
6) Resolution ~4-1 55 was passed as follows:
" That Council approves of selling a portion of a road allowance to Mr. Kirk at a price of
$1,500.00 subject that Mr. Kirk shall be responsible for all the costs related to the sale".

<J) Resolution 84-156 was passed as follows:
" That Council approves of a draft plan extension for Mr. Cliff Wells, Ministry File
43T -76030, for a period of one year, from August 22, 1984 to August 22, 1985".
2) Resolution 84-157 was passed as follows:
" That Council approves of the Orr Lake Ratepayers Association using the Flos-Medonte
Community Park on August 5, 1984 for the annual Orr Lake Regatta".
3) Re~olution 8l,l-1 5~ was passed as follows:
" That this Council approves of the Vasey Community Nursery School operating out of the
Vasey United Church subject to the approval of the Fire Department".

if) Resolution 8if-159 was passed as follows:
" That Council approves of the Ministry of Natural Resources issuing a Wayside Pit Permit
to Bot Construction, Lot 21, Con. 10, on a suspected archeological site subject that the
Ministry of Citizenship and Culture be given the opportunity to dig in advance of and
concurrently with the operation of the Wayside".
/5) Resolution 84- 160 was passed as follows:
" That Council approves of Change Order II 1 for the Warminster Reservoir project in the
amount of $480.00 which changes the total cost of the contract from $58,800. to $59,280.".

6) Resolution 84-161 was passed as follows:
" That Council approves of payment of Payment Certificate II 4 of the Warminster Reservoir
Project in the amount of $4,778.00".
PASSING OF ACCOUNTS

" That Road's Voucher II 6 in the amount of $135,395.11 is hereby approved for payment".
2) Resolution 84-163 was passed as follows:
" That General Voucher II 7 in the amount of $305,990.86 IS hereby approved for payment".

4) Resolution 84-167 was passed as follows:

(5) Resolution 84-168 was passed as follows:
"That Deputy-Reeve Johnstone and Chief Hamilton are appointed to attend a meeting to
be held in Coldwater on July 12, at 7:30 P.M. to discuss emergency rescue".

Resolution 84-169 was passed as follows:
