12 19 1984 Sp Council Minutes THE CORPORA nON OF THE TOWNSHIP OF MEDONTE Minutes of a Special Meeting of Council held on Wednesday, December 19, 1984 at 1 :00 P.M. in Council Chambers, Moonstone, Ontario. Present Reeve - I. Amos Deputy Reeve - L. Johnstone Councillors - J. Patterson - I. Beard - H. Vasey - ,Council met with the Treasurer and the Roads Superintendent to review the roads budget. It was decided to use the extra funds to purchase a sand box and blades and tires for the equipmen1 COllncil then dealt with other business. It was decided to defer the request of Consumers Gas for the franchise for Medonte TOwnship until the Clerk contacted Northern & Central to see what their plans are for portions of Medonte. t The Clerk presented a request from Mr. R. Vivian to run a portable chip stand on his property on some days during the summer. Council had no objections subject to the stand not becoming permanent on the lot and not causing problems due to traffic or noise. ~lerk presented information on a two week training course for the building inspector. Council deferred making a decision until the January meeting. Council directed the Clerk have the building inspector take action against the JoMavis Company to clean up their building which was burned in October. COllncil met with Mr. P. Smith of Reid & Associates and discussed the update of the bridge appraisal report. He explained that of the fourteen structures reviewed that seven of them needed immediate attention. Council asked Mr. Smith to provide a letter stating which structures should be dealt with first in their order of deterioration. Council then met with Mrs. Woodrow, the Township Treasurer to discuss the year end finances. Resolqtion 8lt.::26D was passed as follows: " That a By-Law to authorize for the borrowing of $1,260,000.00 be considered read a first and second time, read a third time and passed this 19th day of December and numbered 84-221 uResolu1iQo 8lf-261 was passed as follows: " That a By-Law to set the interest rate on tax arrears be considered read a first and second time, read a third time and passed this 19th day of December, 1984 and numbered By-Law 84-23". t ...Resolution 8lt-262 was passed as follows: " That a By-Law to establish a trust fund for the purposed of the Ontario Home Renewal Program be considered read a first and second time, read a third time and passed this 19th day of December, and numbered By-Law 84-24". ~ol!ncil authorized the Treasurer transfer the maximum amount allowed under the Home Renewal Program to the Township for administration of the loans. Council direct~~Lthe Treasurer use some of the projected general surplus to make an additional t $10,000. payment towards the loan for the purchase of the Fire Truck. gesolution q~~163~~~as passed as follows: " That Council agrees to a grant from the Park Fund Reserve to the Medonte Community Centre Boal1d for the Hillsdale Community Centre in the amount of $4,000.00 to cover the final costs of the Hillsdale Community Centre Project".
