COUNCIL CH&~ERS - JUNE 23, 1982

SPECIAL MEETING
Council met this evening for a Special Meeting according to resolution
of meeting of June 21, 1982, to interview 7 applicants who had applied
for the position of By-law Enforcement Officer, for which fourteen
applications had been received. Also to consider projects to be su~mitted
under the new 1982 Ontario Employment Incentive Program as announced in
the Provincial Budget on May 13, 1982. The Township of Oro being allocated
an amount of $12,775.00.

Reeve R.S. Arbour opened the meeting at 7:45 p.m.
Clerk advised that the seven applicants selected for interview at the
meeting of June 21, 1982 had been contacted by telephone and scheduled
in approximate 10 minutes intervals, according to schedule presented
to each member of Council showing relevant experience and qualifications.
First applicant being scheduled for 7:45 p.m.
7:55 p.m. - Robert Alison

Experience and qualfications reviewed with Council. Able to commence
immediately - suggested remuneration $10.00 per hour plus mileage.
Teaching part time every year RCMP Course Instructor.
Auxiliary Police Force O.P.P. 1979 to present.
M.N.R. Law Enforcement Course.
All members of Council asked many questions.
Indicated public relations as a major part of the job($10.00 per hour, $20 police)
8:05 p.m. - Juanita C. Dempster
Related experience and qualifications reviewed.
Available to start immediately - suggested minimum of $7.00 per hour, plus mileage.
Able to fit in part time with present job.
With Vespra 18 hours a week.
Mornings one municipality - afternoons the other.
8:40 p.m. - David Crooks
Employed at Barrie R.V. Hospital - orderly - shift work would allow fitting
in with Township requirement.
Remuneration - hourly and mileage
Reviewed related experience, able to commence work immediately.
Familiar with Township.
8:50 p.m. - Mrs. Gail Ball

Auxiliary Police Force Orillia - entails working with full time City Police
Remuneration - hourly rate plus mileage
Hours flexible to fit in with other job.
Familiar with Provincial Offences Act.
Related experience would qualify for Municipal By-law Enforcement Officer

Charles Simpson - did not appear for interview
8:25 p.m. - Arthur James (Jim) Hatch
Previous experience with By-law Enforcement and Provincial Offences Act.
Available to start immediately, present work allows flexible time.
O.P.P. 3 years, City of Windsor By-law Enforcement - 8 years.
Remuneration - depends On number - hourly rate of $10.00 plus mileage.
Ability to type and prepare charges and record work.
9:15 p.m. - William Ormerod
Present employment meets requirement for By-law Enforcement.
Related experience and present work considered with application.
Available to start part time work as By-law Enforcement Officer.
The interviews were concluded at 9:35 p.m., after which Council discussed
the result of interviews and passed the following resolution.
On motion of Halfacre and Davie, that application of Mr. William Ormerod
be accepted for the position of part time By-law Enforcement Officer on
a three month probationary period at a rate of $7.00 per hour and
kilometrage at the Township approved rate of .229 per km, while performing
duty as By-law Enforcement Officer. And, that after the three month
probation period, the remuneration be reviewed upon both Mr. Ormerod
and the Township being satisfied to continue.
The matter of completing the application for the new 1982 Ontario Employment
Incentive Program announced in the Provincial Budget on May 13, 1982,
which is to be submitted prior to June 30, 1982 was presented for discussion.
Topic was considered at some length and projects were outlined for work
on Township properties, after which the following program was proposed
for submission.

On motion of Halfacre and Davie, that the application for program
participation 1982/83 be completed for work in the various Township
locations and projects for each to a total of $12,700.00, and same
be forwarded as requested prior to last date for submission being June 30, 1982.
On motion of Davie and Vousden, adjourn to meet again on Monday, July 5, 1982.
