12 19 1980 Sp Council Minutes ~ . . . ~ Pg. 23 COUNCIL CHAMBERS - DECEMBER 19, 1980 SPECIAL MEETING Council met this morning at the call of the Reeve for a Special Meeting to consider Township Employees remuneration for 1981, and other business requiring Council's action prior to the next regular meeting. All members having being duly notified. All members of Council present. Reeve Allan K. McLean in the chair. Township Auditor, Terry Hehn was present at the request of Council for the discussion of the remuneration for the Administrative Staff. After considerable discussion with Mr. Hehn, Council commenced interviews with each employee of the Township Office. Council enquired of each employee as to the duties they carried out and for what each one was responsible for. Each employee very capably responded to the questions of Council. Council's recommendation for wages for the Office Staff and Road Supt. after Council's consideration on basis of percentage increase and merit or level increase were as follows: Henry Neufeld - Clerk-Treasurer Administrator $24,000.00 $19,500.00 George Roberts - Deputy Clerk-Treasurer Jim Shellswell - Chief Building Official Joan Fletcher - Office Assistant with responsibility of Assessment & Tax matters $16,000.00 plus transport $13,500.00 4~ days/week Katherine Richardson - Office Assistant with responsibility for accounts payable and receivable & ledger. with review $12,000.00 in May Darlene Shoebridge - Office Assistant with responsibility of Receptionist, secretary-typist, and routine office work in all aspects. $11,500.00 Ron Young - hourly increase of .75~ per hour to $8.75 per hour while on duty. Road Supt. Fred Haughton - remuneration was further considered and discussed and resolved that his remuneration be set at $21,500.00. Also authorized for increase was the hourly rate for caretaker of the Township Office to $5.50 per hour. Remuneration for Council as reviewed was proposed as follows: The previous per diem for Council meetings was replaced by annual salary to be paid monthly in place of the previous method of every quarter on the following basis. ~ . . . ~ Pg. 24 SPECIAL MEETING (Cont'd) DECEMBER 19, 1980 Reeve - annual salary of Deputy Reeve - annual salary of Councillors - annual salary of $8,500.00 $7,000.00 $6,000.00 Penalty for missing a meeting - $50.00 per meeting. No mileage or kilometrage within the Township, including attendance of meetings. Attending meetings outside the Township per diem $50.00. Attending Conventions - Room accommodations and registration and parking (receipts for same) - per diem expense of $25.00 per day (receipts for same) - mileage or kilometrage .17~ per kilometer Council and Staff The remuneration as considered by Council were to be presented to the Administrative Staff and Road Supt. after recess for lunch at 12:30 p.m. Following the recess for lunch, Council continued the meeting at 1:45 p.m. Road Supt. Fred Haughton was present as result of Council's proposals for 1981 remuneration and Council related the results of Council's decision of the proposed wages for the Road Supt. in 1981. The office employees were then asked to return and obtain the results of Council's decision of the proposed wages for 1981, after which the following action was taken: On motion of Davie and Halfacre that the salaries and hourly rates as proposed by Council and related to employees, be accepted as the salaries for 1981, as well as the reumuneration for Council as set out above. Remuneration for Road employees other than the Road Supt. were approved at a meeting of Council held on December 15, 1980 as well as Waste Disposal Supt. and the remuneration for Live Stock Valuers at $25.00 per inspection and Fence Viewers at $25.00 per inspection, as well as Caretaker for Oro Township Hall, to receive $6.50 per opening and $5.50 per hour while cleaning. Following the remuneration review Clerk presented a letter from Kiwanis Club of Barrie requesting the company of Council and senior administrators at the Kiwanis Civic Night to be held on Monday, January 19, 1981 at the Holiday Inn in Barrie. Letter requests confirmation of attendance. On motion of Halfacre and Vousden, Clerk to reply and advise that 5 members of Council and Clerk-Administrator and Road Supt. will attend the Kiwanis Civic Night on January 19, 1981. There being no further business for the Special Meeting, Council adjourned by the following motion. On motion of Vousden and Halfacre, adjourn to meet again on Monday, January 5, 1981 at 10:00 a.m.
