Present on behalf of the Insurance Company to make the presentation were: John Mealing and Norman McKinney. Mr. John Mealing presented the proposal for the benefit of Council and the employees based on the present employee coverage and an alternative program proposal including Group Life A.D. & D., Health Care, Dental Care, Short Term and Long Term Disability. After the presentation and a lengthy question period the employees left to discuss the proposal and returned to further consider the proposal with council. Several additional questions were asked of Council along with request for clarification from Mr. Mealing and Mr. McKinney. The main issue raised by the employees being whether the Township would be assuming 100% or 75% of the cost of the proposed Benefit Plan. After the fielding of additional questions it was agreed that the apportionment of the cost be on the basis of 75% Township and 25% employee. With more questions arising the employees left and Council after further discussion and review of the proposed plan, the following action was taken: On motion of Swainson and Sanderson that the present "Sick Leave Benefit Plan" in effect in the Township of Oro, for employees, be terminated as of November 1, 1980 in favour of an extended Employee Benefit Plan. And that the accrued sick benefits be distributed, as determined with each employee. On motion of Smith and McLean that the Township of Oro enter into an Employee Benefit Plan under the County of Simcoe Umbrella Employee Benefit Programme, which shall include Group Life, A.D. & D., Short term and Long term DisabilityPlan, Extended Health Care and Dental Care. And, that this plan be effective November 1, 1980. The basis of the cost of the Plan to be Township 75% and Employee 25% with the specific intent that the Employee pay the total cost of the Long Term Disability. And further that the Municipality in each year provide for 12 half days (6) Days as non-accum- ulative sick leave. On motion of McLean and Sanderson that a portion of this plan be made available to Council members, which shall include Group Life, A.D. & D., Health Care and Dental. Several other matters were discussed by Council following the foregoing consideration and left over for the next regular meeting. On motion of Sanderson & Smith, adjourn at 10:45 p.m. .
