COUNCIL CHAMBERS - JUNE 26, 1980
SPECIAL MEETING
.
Council met at 9:00 p.m. at the call of the Reeve to consider matters
pertaining to staff, fire equipment and the well at the Township garage.
Present - All members of council except Deputy-Reeve McLean.
Reeve Howard A. Campbell in the chair.
The matter of a dinner to honour Mrs. Norma Sanderson's retirement from
the Township was considered. The Deputy-Clerk advised on the matter
as was discussed by the office staff. By consensus, it was agreed that the
dinner would be held at the home of Lloyd and Joan Fletcher, commencing
at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30th, 1980. Invitations to be limited
to Council and Office Staff members and their respective spouses, Fred
and Linda Haughton and Ross and Effie Currie. Councillor Sanderson agreed
to arrange for dinner and refreshments, Councillor Swainson for the
purchase of an appropriate gift. The balance of arrangements were delegated
to staff.

Councillor Smith reported on estimates received in regard to the proposed
purchase of a new Fire Tanker, and agreed to investigate the matter
further prior to the next regular council meeting. The matter of an
inspection by the Fire Chief of the new facilities at Shanty Bay School
was discussed, as was grass cutting at the Shanty Bay Fire Hall. The
Deputy Clerk was instructed to arrange for the Fire Chief to be present
at the next meeting of Council.
Reeve Campbell then brought the matter of difficulties with the well at the
Township garage to Council's attention. After some discussion, the Reeve
indicated he would follow through on the matter at the Roads Committee
1 e ve 1 .
Councillor Swainson reported that she would be absent from the next regular
meeting of Council. The Deputy-Clerk was authorized to prepare remuneration
for Councillor Swainson for the second quarter, and the balance of Council
were requested to submit their statements for same at the next regular
meeting.
There being no further business at hand, it was moved:
On motion of Smith and Swainson, that the meeting adjourn.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:05 p.m.
