01 07 1980 Sp Council Minutes I.- . . . ~ pg. 10 COUNCIL CHAMBERS - JANUARY 7, 1980 SPECIAL MEETING Council met this evening at 8:00 p.m. for a Special Meeting to complete some unfinished business of the first meeting of 1980 which was adjourned at 6:00 p.m., namely to consider the quotations called for by Reid and Associates Ltd. to complete the electrical work on the second well on Plan M-66, Jo-Con Developments. And, to discuss the proposed Barrie Airport from a preliminary report of the Barrie Airport Committee with members of Oro Planning Board. All members of Oro Council present, Reeve Howard A. Campbell in the chair. Present from Oro Planning Board were: Wallace Gough David Woronka Thelma Halfacre Allan Johnson and Secretary-Treasurer Oro Planning Board - George Roberts The Reeve opened the meeting at 8:00 p.m. and the unfinished business from the meeting of this afternoon was first considered. Clerk presented two quotations for the completion of the electrical work for the second well at Shanty Bay Development, Plan M-66 which were called for by the Consulting Engineers, Reid and Associates Ltd. retained by Council to oversee the construction of the second well and pumping system for same. The quotations were to be received by Oro Council by 12 o'clock noon today, January 7, 1980. Quotations received according to the specifications plans and data sheet, prepared by Reid and Associates Ltd. were as follows: Hastings Electric (Oro) Ltd. R.R. #1 SHANTY BAY, Ontario Total price - $1,295.00 (work to be started as soon as material is received and should take two days to complete) Total price - $2,375.00 (starting date to be determined by delivery of materials - completion time three days) Dykstra Brothers Electric Limited P.O. Box 95 38 Ellen Street BARRIE, Ontario After consideration, the following action was taken. On motion of Sanderson and McLean, that the quotation of Hastings Electric (Oro) Limited, to complete the electrical work according to plans and data sheet received from Reid and Associates Limited, be accepted, for a total price of $1,295.00, and work to be completed in two days, as soon as possible, under the supervision of Reid and Associates Limited. Following the completion of the unfinished business, Reeve Campbell related the purpose of the meeting with Oro Planning Board and welcomed the members of Oro Planning Board. After relating that although a great deal of information had been published by the local newspapers, Council had not received any materials or requests from the City of Barrie on the proposed Airport. However, Councillor Clarence Smith was in possession of a proposed Barrie Airport Committee Report, as he was the representative from the Township of Oro on the Barrie Airport Committee. ..... . . . """'1IIIIIIII pg. 11 SPECIAL MEETING (Cont'd) JANUARY 7, 1980 Before calling on Councillor Smith to make a presentation of the contents of the Report he advised that this meeting was proposed as a closed meeting and called for a motion for same. On motion of Sanderson and Swainson, that the meeting go into Committee of the Whole for the purpose of open discussion on the presentation of the proposed Barrie Airport as prepared by the Barrie Airport Committee. Time 8:15 p.m. Councillor Smith then presented the information as contained in the Barrie Airport Committee Report, relating the information from the point when the Committee had retained Consultants to prepare a study showing a need for an Airport for the City of Barrie.
