COUNCIL CHAMBERS - DECEMBER 13, 1979
SPECIAL MEETING
Council met this evening with the Oro Library Board to discuss the matter of
payments to the Barrie and Orillia Public Library Boards and future user fees
or other methods to cover cost of library service.
All members of Council present.
Reeve Howard A. Campbell in the chair.
Present from Oro Library Board were:
Joan Banbury - Secretary Treasurer
Marion McLeod - Chairperson of the Oro Library Board
Bessie Crawford - member (absent)
May Drury - member
Reeve Campbell opened the meeting and asked the Secretary, Joan Banbury, to
read the letters from the Library Boards with respect to charges the Library
Boards are asking from the Township.
The user fee was discussed by Council and the Board members and from the discussion
the members of the Board were in agreement and were prepared to recommend a
user fee.
The Secretary advised that the Library Boards calculate their membership in October.
It was agreed at the conclusion of the meeting that the Township establish a per
user fee in the amount of $5.00 for 1980, provided that this fee may legally be
established in accordance with the Act. The Library Board presented a resolution
in this regard which is to be presented to Council at the next meeting to be
held on Monday, December 17, 1979. It was further suggested that letters
be forwarded to all families that were users of the service in 1979 advising that
a user fee would be charged during 1980, once Council pass a resolution to
establish a user fee.
Reeve Campbell thanked the members of the Library Board for coming.
