First Meeting - Inaugural 1986-88 Council
Oro Council Elect for the next three-year term - 1986-1988, which under the election Act, R.S.O.
Chapter 308, as amended, shall be from December 1985 to December 1988.

met according to the Statutes and Township By-law No. 1173. After each member of the 1986-88 Council
having taken the required Declaration of Elected Office and Oath of Allegiance, Oro Council were duly
organized as the Council for the three-year term of 1986-88, as duly declared by the Clerk.
Trustees Elect - Hawkestone Police Village Steven Cook, Kenneth Crawford and John O'Kurily. The
Trustees Elect for the Hawkestone Police Village were present at the Inaugural Meeting of Council
and subscribed to the required Declaration of Elected Office and Oath of Allegiance and declared
as the Trustees for the Police Village of Hawkestone for the 1986-88 term, by the Clerk.

INAUGURAL MEETING - DECEMBER 3, 1985
After the Inaugural Ceremony of the 1986-88 Council and having being declared constituted as such
Reeve Robert E. Drury assumed the chair and extended a welcome to all present and congratulated
all members of Council and Trustees on their election. Then expressed appreciation of all Candidates
during the election campaign, in particular mentioned former Reeve Davie, Thelma Halfacre, Allan
Johnson and the opportunity of the past three years of working with the former Council which in-
cluded Joanna McEwen who had fhosen not to run for re-election.
He then stated that he had found the past three years challenging and rewarding having learned a
great deal and that the next three years would be a challenge which he looked forward to and with
the co-operation of the new members of Council the challenge would be accomplished, with hard work
and sincere decisions by all members of Council the needs of the Township would be carried out.
After some further remarks Reeve Drury called upon all members of Council for same: '

Welcomed all present and extended appreciation to all other members of Council who offered their
serVIces, indicating that she would continue to do her best to work with Council and for the
Township.

Welcomed everyone present and expressed that this being his first time on Council he would endeavour
to work with all members to carry out the requirements of Council and looked forward to the challenge.

Extended a welcome to all and expressed that he looked forward to the challenge of the next three
years and looked forward to working with Council.
Robert I. Swerdon
Welcomed all present and expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to serve as Councillor
for the Township of Oro and looked forward to the challenge of the next three years.
The Reeve next called upon the Trustees of Hawkestone Police Village for some remarks.

Brought greetings from the County of Simcoe and expressed that it was a pleasure to accept the
invitation to attend the Inaugural Meeting. Also welcomed the Reeve and Deputy Reeve to County
Council.
M.P.P. Simcoe East
- Congratulated all members of Council and Trustees on their election and extended congratulations
to all Candidates who had offered their services.
Stated that it was an honour to serve the Public first as a Reeve and Councillor with the Township
of Oro and now as member of Parliament.
- Acknowledged Staff of Municipalities for their support to Council and
mentioned availability of Federal and Provincial grants and suggested
funds that are available.
Municipalities always apply restraint and often able to show surplus

- Appreciated invitation to Inaugural and expressed that he considered it an honour to represent
the Township of Innisfil and serve as Reeve.
- Congratulated Council on their election and all candidates who had offered their service - maintain
democratic system
Council that served Oro over the past three years, carried out a good job and Innisfil had enjoyed a
good relationship.
To Reeve Drury pleased to see that he has an interest in Lake Simcoe and South Lake Simcoe
Conservation Authority.

congratulated Gail O'Brien on her election to represent Oro on the Simcoe County Board of
Education.

Reeve Drury advised that two members of the Township of Oro Committee of Adjustment and called
upon one or both for remarks.

Reeve Drury then advised that Oro Council would be having an orientation meeting on Thursday, December
5, 1985 at 4:00 p.m.
He then invited all present to remain for a light luncheon which would follow the meeting.
There being no further business it was moved by David Caldwell and seconded by Thelma Halfacre
that the meeting adjourn.
