Opening of the Meeting by the Deputy Clerk: The Deputy Clerk called the meeting to order. 2. Selection of Chairperson: a) Motion for Selection of a Chairperson. Motion No. CSY190325-1 Moved by Joan Banbury, Seconded by Marilyn Gregory It is recommended that the Chairperson for the 2019 Citizen/Senior of the Year Advisory Group meeting be Lu LaFrance as voted by the Advisory Group. Motion No. CSY190325-2 Moved by Betty Veitch, Seconded by Marilyn Gregory It is recommended that the agenda for the 2019 Citizen/Senior of the Year Advisory Group meeting of Monday, March 25, 2019 be received and approved. Carried. 4. Approval of Minutes of Previous Meeting: a) Minutes of meeting held on Monday, March 26, 2018. Motion No. CSY190325-3 Moved by Lynda Crawford, Seconded by Walter Iles It is recommended that the draft minutes of the 2018 Citizen/Senior of the Year Advisory Group meeting held on Monday, March 26, 2018 be received and approved as printed and circulated. Carried. 5. Voting Procedure: a) General Voting Procedure. The general voting procedure was reviewed. 6. Presentation of Nominations and Discussion, re: Oro-Medonte Citizen of the Year Nominees: a) Motion to open discussion of nominations. Motion No. CSY190325-4 Moved by Darlene van Oorschot, Seconded by Neil McNiven It is recommended that the Advisory Group have an open discussion with respect to the 2019 Oro-Medonte Citizen of the Year nominations. Motion No. CSY190325-5 Moved by Walter Iles, Seconded by Ruth Fountain It is recommended that the discussion with respect to the nominations for the 2019 Oro- Medonte Citizen of the Year be closed and further that the vote take place. Carried. 7. Voting: a) Motion to Council to recommend 2019 Oro-Medonte Citizen of the Year. Motion No. CSY190325-6 Moved by Marilyn Gregory, Seconded by Bob Gregory It is recommended to Council that Teena Sauve be nominated as the 2019 Oro-Medonte Citizen of the Year as voted by the Advisory Group. Carried. b) Motion to destroy ballots. Motion No. CSY190325-7 Moved by Ruth Fountain, Seconded by Walter Iles It is recommended that the 2018 Oro-Medonte Citizen of the Year ballots be destroyed. Presentation of Nominations and Discussion, re: Ontario Senior of the Year Nominees: a) Motion to open discussion of nominations. Ruth Fountain excused herself from the discussion of the nomination for herself and Joanna McEwen. Ruth Fountain left the room and did not participate in the discussions of these two nominations. Motion No. CSY190325-8 Moved by Darlene van Oorschot, Seconded by Nancy Drury It is recommended that the Advisory Group have an open discussion with respect to the 2019 Ontario Senior of the Year nominations. Carried. b) Motion to close discussion and commence vote of nominations. Motion No. CSY190325-9 Moved by June Sanderson, Seconded by Walter Iles It is recommended that the discussion with respect to the nominations for the 2019 Ontario Senior of the Year be closed and further that the vote take place. Carried. 9. Voting: a) Motion to Council to recommend 2019 Ontario Senior of the Year. Motion No. CSY190325-10 Moved by Joan Banbury, Seconded by Lynda Crawford It is recommended to Council that Joanna McEwen be nominated as the 2019 Ontario Senior of the Year as voted by the Advisory Group. Motion No. CSY190325-11 Moved by Walter Iles, Seconded by Marilyn Gregory It is recommended that the 2019 Ontario Senior of the Year ballots be destroyed.
