That the Township offer to sell/lease the Edgar Community Hall to the Edgar Community for a nominal fee; 2. That the offer to sell/lease of the Edgar Community Hall opportunity be extended until June 30, 2019; and 4. under the Ontario Heritage Act for the Edgar Hall and proceed with the required cultural heritage assessment. March 3, 2019 Town Counsel of Oro-Medonte Township: For your consideration: I, Nicole Tryon of 2260 Lakeshore Rd E Oro am seeking an exemption for 2 of my dogs. I would like to tell you why I am seeking this exemption. Almost 2 years ago I started in dog rescue. I started by volunteering for a rescue in Bracebridge. After being there for 2 days, I walked into one of the dog pens and cowering in the corner were 2 mini wiener dogs (dachshunds). I quickly scooped them up as they looked terrified. I asked what their story was. about them, and said that we had to do something to get them out of there. It was no environment for blind and deaf dogs. I went to the rescue the next day and asked if they were up for adoption. I was told that on Monday they were going to be euthanized as they had ZERO interest. I knew then and there that they would be coming home with me. Sky and Marshall are 2 of the reasons I started my own rescue and focus on rescuing special needs dogs and the dogs that no-one else wants. We have had the dogs for almost 2 years now. In that time, dogs that were not only discarded and due to die have learned to live and thrive with their disabilities. Marshall who is blind and deaf knows where everything is in the house and water dishes, our bedroom (where they sleep), and the door to go outside (which he goes to as he is housetrained). The minute I walk in the door from work, he knows dog lives his life by his nose. He is the and gratitude. Sky, who can hear but is blind is spunkier than her brother. She was born with one eye, and was essentially her eyes for the last 1.5 years. Unfortunately, about 6 weeks ago, we noticed a slight change in her eye and within a couple hours had to rush her to the emergency vet as her pupil got huge and her eye was beet red and she was in pain. In the blink of an eye she was completely blind. She will have to have her eye removed now due to glaucoma, and the pressure. A cost of about $1,800. Sky has had to re-learn the house she lives in people she knows dogs she lives with. Its been so tough watching her be depressed. But with the love and patience from my husband and I, she has now learned to live without sight and is back to her happy, bubbly, sassy self. When we moved to Oro from Gravenhurst, we were not aware that there was a 3-dog limit. We accept that responsibility for not looking that up prior. But we fell in love with the area, and so did our dogs, neighbors who we have bon fires with in the summer, who love our dogs and their dog comes over and plays with ours. We keep our dogs outdoor time to a minimum unless we are out there with them, and do not allow them to bark n leave the deck area unless we are our fenced backyard, and never out of our sight. They rarely bark, and if they do, we are right there to reassure them that its ok and then they stop. In closing, I want to make it very clear that we are seeking a one-time exemption so we can keep these dogs in our family. There is NO other option. We cannot rehome them, as their disability prevents that ve them from our home, it would mean a death sentence for them. It would mean euthanizing them. They would feel ALL of that if they were torn away from the only people that have ever loved them and given them a chance at a home and life. The very thought of that has me in tears just writing that. I understand that bylaws are in place to they need to be extended the courtesy to be considered as such. First Nations, Farmers, Cottagers, David Crombie, Ralph Nader, Dale Goldhawk, Maude Barlow and many others came together to protect the pristine ground water resource that lies under the proposed garbage dump. Area residents care about this water deeply and support for their efforts was received from people around the world. Now this same water - the purest groundwater ever identified - is under threat again- this time from a gravel pit expansion in the Waverley Uplands. The Uplands represent the recharge area for this pristine aquifer, one of the most important natural resources in Simcoe County, Ontario. We were involved with this Dump site 41 fight since 1985. It is disheartening that now our precious water supply is being attacked again for monetary greed and profit. There are many other gravel pits in this area of Simcoe County to fulfill the needs of development and developers. We wish to echo the proposal of Professor William Shotyk (Dr. rer. nat. habil., P.Ag., FRSC & President of the Elmvale Foundation) for an immediate moratorium on expansion of aggregate extraction in the Waverley Uplands, until the impacts on the groundwater flow systems are fully understood (see attached letters). We have asked the Proponent for a cumulative impact study to be done and turbidity monitors to be installed in area wells. Since 2009 this type of study has been recommended; however, the Proponent refuses. Having this gravel pit, never mind expanding it, is jeopardizing a tremendously important natural resource - the Purest and Cleanest Water in the World (proven and documented). Have you tried the water here yourself? If not, I highly suggest you come out and try it - you can taste it from the public spring in Elmvale, located on Hwy 27, just north of Hwy 92, on the right side of the road. People drive up here from Guelph and further to get water. It is the healthiest and cleanest water you could have. Do you want to be responsible for ruining such an incredible natural resource for the purpose of sourcing gravel? Once ruined, it will be ruined forever and it will not only impact the immediate communities here. This hill, this filter, recharges the Alliston Aquifer. We are talking about removing a filter off the entire underground lake. I find that sometimes things like this application may be approved due to lack of awareness, from not understanding the impacts fully and just wanting to make the process flow, create business, move on to the next application. You may think: oh, it's just a gravel pit, it is not a big deal. But, not this gravel pit, this gravel pit is different, it is a big deal. If you take a closer look at it, you will understand how important this hill really is. You will want to haul the gravel back here, not away from here. First Nations, Farmers, Cottagers, David Crombie, Ralph Nader, Dale Goldhawk, Maude Barlow and many others came together to protect the pristine ground water resource that lies under the proposed garbage dump. Area residents care about this water deeply and support for their efforts was received from people around the world. Now this same water - the purest groundwater ever identified - is under threat again- this time from a gravel pit expansion in the Waverley Uplands. The Uplands represent the recharge area for this pristine aquifer, one of the most important natural resources in Simcoe County, Ontario. We wish to echo the proposal of Professor William Shotyk (Dr. rer. nat. habil., P.Ag., FRSC & President of the Elmvale Foundation) for an immediate moratorium on expansion of aggregate extraction in the Waverley Uplands, until the impacts on the groundwater flow systems are fully understood (see attached letters). There are legitimate concerns about current activities negatively impacting this groundwater as outlined to your Ministry in two reports by Professional Geoscientist Wilf Ruland. In response CRH Canada Group Inc., Dufferin Aggregates has asked for further expansion and has applied for a 10-year permit to take water at its Teedon Pit for over 6 million litres a day. First Nations, Farmers, Cottagers, David Crombie, Ralph Nader, Dale Goldhawk, Maude Barlow and many others came together to protect the pristine groundwater resource that lies under the proposed garbage dump. Area residents care about this water deeply and support for their efforts was received from people around the world. Now this same water - the purest groundwater ever identified - is under threat again- this time from a gravel pit expansion in the Waverley Uplands. The Uplands represent the recharge area for this pristine aquifer, one of the most important natural resources in Simcoe County, Ontario. We wish to echo the proposal of Professor William Shotyk (Dr. rer. nat. habil., P.Ag., FRSC & President of the Elmvale Foundation) for an immediate moratorium on expansion of aggregate extraction in the Waverley Uplands, until the impacts on the groundwater flow systems are fully understood (see attached letters). There are legitimate concerns about current activities negatively impacting this groundwater as outlined to your Ministry in two reports by Professional Geoscientist Wilf Ruland. In response CRH Canada Group Inc., Dufferin Aggregates has asked for further expansion and has applied for a 10-year permit to take water at its Teedon Pit for over 6 million litres a day. Area wells have become silty intermittently since extraction has occurred. We have asked the Proponent for a cumulative impact study to be done and turbidity monitors to be installed in area wells. Since 2009 this type of study has been recommended; however, the Proponent refuses. We ask you, Minister, to ensure it happens as https://media.assets.eco.on.ca/archive/2015/03/2008-09-AR.pdf#page=31 This groundwater is the permitted to bring in foreign material such as asphalt, fill and other contaminants that could put this aquifer at risk.
