Opening of the Meeting by the Deputy Clerk: The Deputy Clerk called the meeting to order. 2. Selection of Chairperson: a) Motion for Selection of a Chairperson. Motion No. CSY170327-1 Moved by Bob Gregory, Seconded by June Sanderson It is recommended that the Chairperson for the 2017 Citizen/Senior of the Year Advisory Group meeting be Lu LaFrance as voted by the Advisory Group. Motion No. CSY170327-2 Moved by Allan Brown, Seconded by Don Walker It is recommended that the agenda for the 2017 Citizen/Senior of the Year Advisory Group meeting of Monday, March 27, 2017 be received and adopted. Carried. 4. Approval of Minutes of Previous Meeting: a) Minutes of meeting held on Tuesday, March 29, 2016. Motion No. CSY170327-3 Moved by Marilyn Gregory, Seconded by Joan Banbury It is recommended that the draft minutes of the 2016 Citizen/Senior of the Year Advisory Group meeting held on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 be received and approved as printed and circulated. Carried. 5. Voting Procedure: a) General Voting Procedure. The General Voting Procedure was presented for information only. Discussion ensued regarding the Voting/Nomination process. Motion No. CSY170327-4 Moved by Walter Iles, Seconded by Isabel Shepard It is recommended that the Nomination Application Form for the Citizen/Senior of the Year Awards remain as is. Carried. Motion No. CSY170327-5 Moved by Pat Shellswell, Seconded by Walter Iles It is recommended that the 2017 Nominations be accepted as is; and that for future years, only nominations completed on the prescribed Nomination Application Form will be accepted. Carried. Motion No. CSY170327-6 Moved by Bernice Gill, Seconded by Joan Banbury It is recommended that the same candidate cannot be nominated for Oro-Medonte Citizen and Ontario Senior of the Year awards in the same year. Carried. 6. Presentation of Nominations and Discussion re: Oro-Medonte Citizen of the Year Nominees: a) Motion to open discussion of nominations. Motion No. CSY170327-7 Moved by Walter Iles, Seconded by Allan Brown It is recommended that the Advisory Group have an open discussion with respect to the 2017 Oro-Medonte Citizen of the Year nominations. Carried. b) Motion to close discussion and commence vote of nominations. Motion No. CSY170327-8 Moved by Bob Gregory, Seconded by Walter Iles It is recommended that the discussion with respect to the nominations for the 2017 Oro- Medonte Citizen of the Year be closed and further that the vote take place. Voting: One round of voting was completed to declare a winner by majority. a) Motion to Council to recommend 2017 Oro-Medonte Citizen of the Year. Motion No. CSY170327-9 Moved by Marilyn Gregory, Seconded by Ruthanne Shaw It is recommended to Council that Ted Bigelow be nominated as the 2017 Oro-Medonte Citizen of the Year as voted by the Advisory Group. Carried. b) Motion to destroy ballots. Motion No. CSY170327-10 Moved by Don Walker, Seconded by Walter Iles It is recommended that the 2017 Oro-Medonte Citizen of the Year ballots be destroyed. Carried. 8. Presentation of Nominations and Discussion re: Ontario Senior of the Year Nominees: a) Motion to open discussion of nominations. Motion No. CSY170327-11 Moved by Lynda Crawford, Seconded by Don Walker It is recommended that the Advisory Group have an open discussion with respect to the 2017 Ontario Senior of the Year nominations. Carried. b) Motion to close discussion and commence vote of nominations. Motion No. CSY170327-12 Moved by Lynda Crawford, Seconded by Marilyn Gregory It is recommended that the discussion with respect to the nominations for the 2017 Ontario Senior of the Year be closed and further that the vote take place. Voting: Three rounds of voting were completed to declare a winner by majority. a) Motion to Council to recommend 2017 Ontario Senior of the Year. Motion No. CSY170327-13 Moved by Bob Gregory, Seconded by Allan Brown It is recommended to Council that Yeb Jermey be nominated as the 2017 Ontario Senior of the Year as voted by the Advisory Group. Carried. b) Motion to destroy ballots. Motion No. CSY170327-14 Moved by Lynda Crawford, Seconded by Neil McNiven It is recommended that the 2017 Ontario Senior of the Year ballots be destroyed. Carried. 10.Adjournment: a) Motion for Adjournment.
